Mars Mission Planners Will Study Fridtjof Nansen’s Polar Exploration Methods to Relearn How to Triumph Over Isolation and Hardship

Read this National Geographic story (or single page text without photos) to learn how famous Norwegian arctic explorer Fridtjof Nansen had overcome many of the supposed hardships that would face a mission to Mars. Notice Nansen’s “can-do” spirit and brilliant leadership/people management skills. Contrast with the sad “laundry list”of real and imaginary problems that a Mars mission would face according to the Facing Mars Exhibit at the Ontario Science Centre.

Fortunately, the video summary of the exhibit is a little more upbeat.
